By the way...

For the September challenge, anyone who finished 4 pieces by the end of the month will get a custom piece of artwork from me. Basically I'll draw/sketch whatever you want, then post it here in the blog. Think of it as a prize or something... yeah. Hopefully this will keep others motivated and it'll give me an excuse to keep making art once this month is finished.

Hope to see some cool stuff from people. :)

Silly stuff...

These words had been printed out by a woman at my shower. She gave a little message on marriage, using twelve "TY" words to illustrate her points. I took the print outs home and "added" to her points. I've only done these two so far. The others are going to be a little more difficult to think about.

Post Shower Sneak Peak

No, my bridal shower! I'll give a smack to whoever was thinking otherwise.


So my shower was a couple weekends ago. I was so grateful to everyone who came out and supported me and Adam, both with encouragement and gifts, that I couldn't not personalize the thank you cards. This is only one of many other thank-you card designs. They are not all like this, and I will most likely only send this design to people who I know will appreciate the random silliness. I actually incorporated the doodles from a previous sketchbook page, which is somewhere around here in a previous post. I'll post more once I've actually sent out the thank you's. Also, these are all being printed on a yellowish patterened cardstock paper, so the background isn't white as it is here.

Kung Fu Ferret

Went back into an older sketch to finish it. Need to have some stuff in my portfolio that isn't dark and scary for a possible job.

Been working on this all morning/early afternoon.

Ended up using much more photo-texture then I normally use, but regardless, I'm pretty happy with how this turned out.

Messed Up Moose

Well... day two of painting and I messed it up. I should have retraced the drawing for a second time, but I winged it and ... the moose doesn't look like a moose anymore. Here's what I've ended up with. I'm bummed out because I was enjoying the colors of this piece. I'll start a new tomorrow... in the mean time I think I'll start a new drawing for another piece.

Homage to the Golden Age

I haven't been doing any real sketches, just mostly drawings to be colored and the like.
I've been doing this Project over the past month in hopes of building up a portfolio, but unfortunately it was kind of a bust. However, I was especially pleased with this piece, go figure.

War of the Worlds?

Just a quick sketch of some alien robot scene thing...just started doing this kinda stuff so go easy on me :-)

Very early work in progress.

Started this early afternoon. Want to incorporate more movement and life into my work...
Anyways, this is more of a value study/thumbnail and I'm going to work this up to a 100% finished piece by sometime early next week. Any crits are appreciated. The anatomy still needs work (foreshortening on the horse-thing was real hard) but otherwise this is what I got so far.

I know this isn't a normal post for this blog but since everyone started posting again and i was in the ceramic studio last night, i figured i would post this to get started. Not really sure who or what this character is, but he could be an incense holder? ashtray? scary guy? He's also double sided. he will be fired tonight and painted soon...more to come

Last night

Here's a sketch from last night. It's titled "To all the beings,creatures, and things who live in a giant's world." This sketch is for Meghan. I might redraw it from another perspective though (also for Meghan), this one isn't quiet getting the feeling I want across. If I get the sketch right I'll paint it. :-)

Portrait

This is something I'd been working on in my spare time over the last couple months. Took me forever to get to this point. I still don't think it's quite finished, but I'm ready to move on.

Stupid Late

What can I say... old habits die hard? I wanted to be in bed 3 hours ago. But ya'll know how it is when you get in the zone. A couple scans here. Sketches on my scrap wedding envelopes. Sorry, nothing more exciting to show than gray envelopes as far as wedding stuff goes. I'll definitely be able to show more AFTER the wedding. :) These are from pics I took in Vermont this summer.

Hello, I haven't done any a lot of sketching recently but just so you know I still make art here's some recent stuff.

Up again

For anyone who's around look forward to a September challenge, in the mean time let's get some sketches up here again. I drew this comic last night, which was inspired from a conversation I had earlier that day. The picture is dark because I took a photograph.

I can't reply to any posts here, I dunno why... so I'm making this post to say that I'm definitely down for another challenge. Also, since people are here, I'm gonna post more new work I've done. :)
