Hour doodle before bed. Putting more emphasis on a direct light source and form.

gothic city

Work in progress. Most of my environments are grungy/gross... so I want to do something nice and pretty this time. Need to add people though.

I dislike the notion of the layman zombie; your run of the mill average Joe made undead. I think the prospect of zombie warriors is much more terrifying.

Also, when drawing this I kept thinking "Psh, everyone will expect me to draw zombie Anne Boleyn, I'll show them!" Then I realized how hilarious the prospect could be if not only Anne Boleyn was a zombie, but if she and the other wives Henry deposed of came back to seek revenge.

I hope to have this colored by the end of the month.
And I know he had six wives but two outlived him so they would only be zombies if they were made into zombies.

Sketch/Color comp

A sketch/ color comp for a commission piece for a hair dresser. I am thinking about doing the finished traditionally.

20 minute digital sketch for figure drawing

20 minute sketch from monday night figure drawing by Miguel, who's without internet at the moment. Crappy cell phone quality, enhanced a bit in photoshop.

Zombie Color

Just threw down some color in photoshop. I think this is the palette I want to use for this piece.

WORLD WAR Z - thumbnail

a lone soldier fights for his life against a hoard of zombies. quick thumbnail before I go to sleep.

Zombie Sketch

I just blocked in the zombies quickly. The drawing is 9 x 12, but my scanner is 8 x 11. I've recently seen the movie Zombie Land. It was so funny, has anyone else seen it?

Clean Up

Hey, guys! As you may have noticed, I spent the afternoon tidying up OSBS. I deleted members who I haven't heard back from, or who haven't posted in a while and don't seem to be interested anymore. Or, you know, too busy or whatever. Anyway, if you have been deleted from the members list, it is not personal. I promise. I am simply trying to keep things organized and updated. If you notice that you have been removed but would like to stay on board, just throw me an email and I'll put you back on. And try to post once in a while so you don't get removed again. Some of you I have talked to already about the technical difficulties you are having, so no worries. Just post when you can.

Class of 2010! Congratulations! You are all invited to join this blog! Email us if you are interested and tell all your art buddies who don't know.

one more...

Decided to leave this as just an environment sketch after I couldn't incorporate the figure properly.

evil monk guy

This was gonna be my entry for the zombie challenge but I didn't like how it was coming so I made it into a monster for my monster a day challenge... I'll have a better zombie drawing done for the end of the month though.

May Challenge and OSBS Update

Okay guys! We're going to try something new. After emailing with a few people a couple months ago, the idea to do theme challenges came up. We will still have a whole month to do this, but if the turn out is good and we want to move along faster then we can try bi-weekly. But for now it will be whole month.

Also, at the end of this month I will be evaluating this blog again in terms of whether or not it's worth upkeeping. Hopefully, we'll get some new people on board soon, what with the upcoming gradution and all. Anyway, that's where we are at right now. On with the callenge.

May Challenge

Theme: Zombies
Pretty much anything you want to do with them is fine, just draw a zombie. Will it be funny? Scary? Will you turn a celebrity or an already established fictional character into a zombie? It is up to you!

creature of the day

As a personal challenge, for the month of May I'm going to try to draw one creature/monster/character a day. I won't succede, but if I can get at least 15-20 drawings done I'll be happy. Here's the first.

I'm gonna start posting here again...
